Going through the security checkpoint at DIA, the TSA gent peered over the conveyor to look at my shoes.<\/p>\n
“They’re sandals,” I told him. “All rubber. No metal.”<\/p>\n
“It doesn’t just look at metal any more. We suggest you take them off.”<\/p>\n
No word on what it might be trying to detect, or whether those who go through without taking off their sandals will be strip-searched or what, but it wasn’t worth any further hassle, so I took them off.<\/p>\n
