A while — like, several months — back, there was discussion of our doing a musical at the church. Nodded, accepted the “You will <\/em>be in this, Dave” nomination, didn’t think anything of it.<\/p>\n

Well, between this and that, the production went quiet for a while, but is now suddenly a go-go-go!<\/em><\/p>\n

And we had our first read-through last night.<\/p>\n

And we’re putting it on the weekend of June 3-4. <\/p>\n

And, yes, that’s three weeks from now. <\/p>\n

*sigh*<\/p>\n

The show’s The Cotton Patch Gospel<\/em>, a musical “bluegrass” rendition of the Gospels, set in Georgia, complete with televangelist, baby-kissing politicians, and, inevitably, a lynchin. It also has some kick-ass music composed by Harry Chapin. the I’m playing Matthew — the narrator — and, unlike some productions, this will not <\/em>be a one-man show, but that’s still a lot of stuff to memorize.<\/p>\n

Going to be a very intense 3 weeks. Especially with a couple of trips in the interim.<\/p>\n

(And, yes, anyone in the area is invited, details to follow — I think it’s a fine show, and Chapin’s music is great. I just wish we were putting in on in, say, August<\/em>.)<\/small><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
