{"id":8238,"date":"2006-01-13T09:59:34","date_gmt":"2006-01-13T16:59:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/wp\/2006\/01\/13\/it-could-only-be-more-bland-in-black-and-white.html"},"modified":"2006-01-13T09:59:34","modified_gmt":"2006-01-13T16:59:34","slug":"it_could_only_b","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2006\/01\/13\/it_could_only_b.html","title":{"rendered":"It could only be more bland in black-and-white"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"img-shadow-right\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/images\/kodak.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Kodak logo change\" width=275 height=134><\/div>\n<p>I can understand the idea of Kodak wanting to reinvent themselves, and even their desire to distance themselves a bit from the old-fashioned film industry to whatever it is they do today.<\/p>\n<p>But, really, folks &#8212; not only is this <a href=\"http:\/\/rochesterdandc.com\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=\/20060106\/NEWS01\/60106001\" target=\"_blank\">major change in a 70-year logo<\/a> throwing away a lot of <em>positive <\/em>image association, the result is generic and undistinguished to the point of banality.  Gone is the implicit &#8220;K,&#8221; formed stylistically from film running under a lens.  The vivid, highly visible gold-and-red of the old logo box now become a fragment of color, using the unimaginative word-between-two-lines format.  Blah, and bleah.<\/p>\n<p>(And, it appears, that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.underconsideration.com\/speakup\/archives\/002512.html\" target=\"_blank\">the horizontal lines are unofficial<\/a>, too.  Meaning that the logo is &#8212; the name, in red, in an unimaginative typeface.<\/p>\n<p>Bad move, folks.
