  1. “Hi<\/strong>.” (Be generally friendly and strike up conversations and you might just find someone interesting to talk to.)\n
  2. “Can you close my bracelet for me?<\/strong>” Or “Can you help with this crossword puzzle answer?” or any other plea for assistance. (Make the guy a hero.)\n
  3. “That’s a cool pocket-watch. Where’d you get it?<\/strong>” (Ask a question that takes more than a grunt yes or no.)\n
  4. “Don’t you think Batman’s cooler than Superman because he doesn’t have super-powers to fall back on?<\/strong>” (Make the guy feel like an expert in something.)\n
  5. “You’ve got an iPod. Should I get the Nano or the 30 gig?<\/strong>” (Variation on the above, but with the guy-centric tech aspect.)\n
  6. “Do you think that couple over there is on their first date, or what?<\/strong>” (Make the guy feel like he’s in an “in” conversation.)\n
  7. “Can I sit with you so I won’t get hit on?<\/strong>” (Make the guy feel like a hero, paint yourself in an attractive light, and give yourself an excuse to buy him a “thank you” drink.)\n
  8. “This new Snickers bar is fabulous. You’ve got to try it.<\/strong>” (Be generous and engage his senses.)\n
  9. “So, what are you doing here?<\/strong>” (Look for something in common, esp. at some sort of social event.)\n
  10. “I never do this, but I think you’re cute and I got tired of waiting for you to talk to me.<\/strong>” (Just be direct.)<\/ol>\n

    Certainly any of these would get my attention (if I was in the market — which, of course, I am not<\/em>). Especially, of course, #4 …<\/p>\n
