The best 20 cartoon characters of all time<\/a> — according to these guys, at least.<\/p>\n

Most of the differences folks will have with the list will probably derive from personal taste. A lot of the arguments put forth here are based on influence <\/em>(sort of like Time<\/em>‘s Man of the Year), as opposed to quality. Which may have some legitimacy, though it seems to then boomerang back around to the authors’ preferences (Fat Albert? Two characters from The Family Guy<\/em>?), and on what they thought was hip and cutting edge then (and, in some cases, now). I’m pretty sure that Bugs Bunny will still be showing up in history of animation and popular media books fifty years from now; I’m a lot more doubtful about Ren & Stimpy, or Bobby Hill, or even Cartman.<\/p>\n
