On Wednesday, the iconic Stardust hotel in Vegas closed<\/a>. Lots of once high-rolling guests and Vegas finery was bypassed by newer, flashier casino-resorts. It will be razed and replaced by something brighter and shinier and doubtless less interesting.<\/p>\n

Then, this morning, Gatorland USA<\/a> suffered a fire<\/a> that burned much of the entrance complex. I visited there on business back in March 2002<\/a>, and while it cheesy as all get-out, it’s also a classic institution I hope will unlike the Stardust, spring back.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
