While I deem myself a Christian, let me state for the record that I find this site — “The Bible is vastly superior to the Koran<\/a>” — to be alternately hilarious, offensive, and astonishingly oblivious to the beam in its own eye. <\/p>\n

A thorough fisking of the page would take waaaay too long, but a few of the highlights: <\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \n“Qur’an is different than what Muhammad delivered”<\/strong> – This paragraph criticizes the Koran for the editing that was done to Koranic texts before the canonical Qur’an was decided upon. This is, of course, vastly different from the selections and deselections of various New Testament gospels and epistles<\/a> before the final version was (more or less) agreed upon.<\/li>\n
  2. \n“Koran is literally a book of fairy tales. No kidding! The Qur’an is a revised counterfeit of 6th century polytheism, composed of previously existing pagan beliefs, practices and fairy tales.”<\/strong> And nobody, of course, has ever considered the Bible and Christian beliefs and traditions as “fairy tales<\/a>” or incorporation of various pagan<\/a> beliefs<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  3. \n“Is only the Arabic version of the Koran God\u2019s word?”<\/strong> This section criticizes Muslims for claiming that only the Arabic renditions of the Qur’an are authentic expressions of Allah’s word. This differs greatly from past (and present) assertions that, say, only the King James Version of the Bible<\/a> is the one true authentic expression of God’s word.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Oh, and don’t forget this particular damning accusation about Islam: <\/p>\n

    Islam is intolerant and incompatible with all other religions:<\/strong> If anyone desires a religion other than Islam, never will he be accepted of God; and in the next life, he will be in the ranks of those who have lost themselves and will burn in hell. (Qur’an 3:85) <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

    Because you’d never<\/em> find a Christian using the Bible to claim<\/a> that anyone not a Christian will be rejected by God and bound for hell. Perish the thought!<\/p>\n

    There is plenty to compare between Christian and Islamic theology and teachings — and to both criticize and admire of them both. But this kind of simplistic name-calling (basically “What I believe is true, and what you believe, since it’s not what I believe, is false, QED”) goes beyond being unhelpful to being just plain undignified and wrong.<\/p>\n
