Last night over post-production dinner<\/a>, we were chatting with Jackie about sprinklers cold and stuff like that. <\/p>\n

Not to worry, we said, assuredly. Hard freezes won’t happen at the beginning of October. Need to put something on the schedule for blowing the system pretty soon, though. Usually don’t have to worry about it until the end of the month.<\/p>\n

Of course, today, I read this<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Bob Koopmeiners, meteorologist at the National Weather Service, is predicting a mixture of rain and snow showers this morning turning to all snow this afternoon and continuing into the evening. <\/p>\n

The weather service is predicting 4 to 8 inches overnight from Leadville to Estes Park. A snow advisory issued for the Front Range foothills will be in effect until 6 a.m. tomorrow. Denver may receive up to an inch or two. “It could be in the upper 20s tonight for the football game,” Koopmeiners said. <\/p>\n

“We\u2019re advising anyone with a swamp cooler or sprinkler system to blow them out and get ready for what may be a hard freeze Wednesday night,” Koopmeiners said. Also it would be wise to disconnect garden hoses from houses as well. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

*sigh*<\/p>\n

So, I’ve called the sprinkler folks, and they’ll be out … next<\/em> Wednesday. But at least I’ll be undoing the hoses when I get home. And pulling some plants next to the house.<\/p>\n

(Not too worried — current forecast also has a high on Wednesday of 55, and in the 50s for the next few days after that — so a real sprinkers-destroying hard freeze doesn’t sound real<\/em> likely … yet.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
