Actually did some F2F gaming over the weekend, a TSoY campaign set in a steam-punk Renaissance Italy kinda thing, centered around the wastrel ducal heir to Petrana, Leo. I get to play his wastrel comrade-in-arms, which was a lot of fun. Margie is a kinda-Girl-Geniusy visiting
inventor from Germany. Randy is … hmmm … haven’t gotten a tag on Randy’s character yet.
The actual gameplay time was relatively short — the standard socializing chewing up much of the festivities — but we got further and it felt more satisfying than a lot of what we’ve done of late. I particularly liked the byplay between Pietro (me) and Leo (and Leo’s dad). Hope we can keep the momentum up.
Looking at the game site, I assume that the background you talked about (steampunkish Italy) is something your GM did? That sounds interesting, like gaming in the universe of Neal Stephenson’s Baroque Cycle of doorstops.
He’s got some materials he used as a foundation, but most of it is the product of his fevered imagination.
I look forward to future reports. Looks very interesting!
