Evidently between me and another MT installation on the server we’re on, the spammers have been managing to bring things to their knees for most of the day (no idea if it’s me, the other fellow, or both of us). So sometime in the wee hours of the night, I’m told that support gnomes will be moving my site (and hangers-on) to yet another server by itself. Hopefully that will limit the damage.
So, in case things aren’t up tomorrow … that’s why. I’ll be checking first thing in the a.m.
Assuming the server frees up enough for me to freaking post this …
The update/server move does not seem to have happened last night, alas.
But it *was* done this morning. Yay!
I’ll monitor to make sure all is well.
And its rejecting my pop server password.
I can’t get to my email at mail2web either.
Rrg. Mail services are running. It’s possible there’s a lag in the domain mapping for POP service (though the remapped web services are working). Alas, I can’t get into the control panel from the office, so I’ll have to poke at it tonight. Give it a try later on and let me know if it suddenly starts moving. Sorry.
Call me if I need to make any changes.
I’ll shoot you an e-mail. 🙂
For what it’s worth, I can see the load still spiking over on Psyche (the old server), so it wasn’t my site in particular that was causing the problem (or having the problem caused through it).
Or maybe not, as my new server (Brizo), upon which I am ostensibly alone, is getting whacked.
GO AWAY, ASSHOLES!

They’ve rebooted the server. So far (tick tick tick) so good.
That fixed the problem.
Really? Excellent!
Well, I spoke too soon – it’s down again.
Rrg.
I’ve done a few interim steps (prior to installing the next version of MT) to see if that helps, including renaming my comments script (which I *think* can be done without rebuilding everything, since all of the blogs here are dynamic).
If I can post this comment, I’ll know it worked. And that should cut the spam attempts substantially, at least for a while.
It seems to pop on and off, like the servers so busy it can’t respond, but if I ask repeatedly it will get through. Wierd.
Actually, that’s about what I’m seeing on the server burden. Sorry about that. Let me see what else I can do.
