Dude, do you know how much electricity three widescreen monitors and a widescreen TV take? What’s that doing to your carbon balance?

Holy Cow! That looks like three 30-inch Apple Cinema Displays! I don’t know how one can use that much screen area, but I’d sure like to try to figure it out! If anyone wants to give me three 30-inch Apple Cinema Displays and a Mac Pro to run them with, I’ll pay the electric bills and deal with the effects on my carbon footprint!

Just for comparison, the other day the air conditioning was off in my building. Since the students were out, and the temperature in our main lab complex was climbing above 90, I went around and turned off 253 computers and some related equipment. Somewhere over eighty-two thousand watts of heat energy that on a normal day, must be removed by air conditioning at something like 30% efficiency. I’d hate to see my carbon balance if you included my workplace.
