Quickie items I don’t have time to blog about more fully:
- “Who needs sleep?” We do, to build a gestalt of the day’s events.
- Cool Then-and-Now cityscape Flickr group. I love these things, and need to poke into it more.
- Remarkably enough, this “The Year 2000 as Predicted from the Year 1900” appears to be legit. Some of the items are remarkably prescient, others wildly off-base.
- Why can’t Verizon understand the difference between 0.002 cents and 0.002 dollars? Well, their billing department seems to understand.
- Man isn’t just the Hairless Ape, he’s the Running Ape.
- Censored Google Maps.
- Death to Blue LEDs!
That blue LED thing… I should test that. I’ve got this doodad at home that’s a mini-sized “lava lamp” that has 3 LEDs that blink in turn when the battery-powered “lamp” is shaken. I had noticed that the blue one seemed unnaturally bright when playing with the lamp in the dark, while one of the other colors seems to almost cause the entire thing to go dark.
I may post some pictures later after fooling around with it.
PS I would also like to call for a “death-to-cornea-searing-blue-headlights” on certain luxury cars. Those things annoy the stink outta me.
Agreed.
My alarm clock actually has blue LEDs. It’s *way* too bright for the room — which is why there’s usually a pillow interposed.
