Nutshell rocks.

Nutshell is a little IE (5.5 and above, and Windows only, I suspect) add-on that gives you a search line and a Go button on your toolbar.

Type in search terms, hit Enter, and it forwards it to Google (not unlike the Google toolbar or Javascript button you can download from them).

Type in search terms, click on the Go button, and now you can choose to send the search to Google, Amazon*, The Internet Movie Database (IMDB), Dictionary.com, or Daypop (a news/blog search engine). All of which are places I frequently search at, anyway.

I’ve been using it the past few days, and it’s a definite productivity enhancer. And it’s free.

Download it. Use it. Thank me (or, more properly, the programmer) later.

*Andre Torres, the programmer, notes that using Nutshell to go to Amazon will include his Amazon Associate number as a reference. Which means he might get a few pennies of any purchase, at no cost to the buyer, which seems fair recompense to him for this effort.
