“Get a Job! (sha-na-na-na, sha-na-na-na-na)”

Congrats to +James Hill on his first official paycheck-and-SSI-withholding job, at one of the local King Soopers (Kroger) stores, working graveyard.

They even armed him with a box cutter. Now that's scary …

  1. Third shift was my bag and would continue to be if they offered cushy office tech work late at night! Wawa was my joint and I managed third for a couple years (on season, off season there were only two shifts) before relocating away from the middle of nowhere. Propers to James!

  2. The interesting thing was that, while I would consider customer interaction in such a job to be a cool thing, he's disappointed that his shift (12M – 8:30am) has an overlap with the 5am opening of the store.

Not sure where that came from.

Regardless, it's all useful experience (also income for folding money at college), even if it's at a place with the truly ridonculous name of "King Soopers".

(Though, to be fair, they had a very nice presence at the Denver PrideFest parade and festival.)

  3. A guy named Lloyd King started the chain (at the one closest to my house, as it happens.) Apparently it was briefly King Super but there was some dispute about that name being used elsewhere.
