First off, I think it’s both very cool that the Chilean miners are being rescued, and it’s pretty cool how it’s happening, and it’s an interesting story …
And, yeah, people (self included) bitch and moan about the dearth of “good news” on the news.
Still … the “Man Landing on the Moon” quantity of the TV coverage and viewership seems … overkill. It’s like the girl who got trapped down a well back in the 80s, and the wall-to-wall coverage of the rescue effort. There are a lot of other Really Good stories, and Really Important ones, too.
So I want to offer my sincerest congratulations to the miners, and my pleasure at their rescue, and … can we move on to the next subject?
Is that too … curmudgeonly?
Yes.
As self-punishment, you should watch this bizarre anime’ mashup of Sting’s Sending Our Love Down a Well.
I feel … appropriately chastened.
Dave, if it makes you feel better, go and watch tonight’s Daily Show. =P
