Unblogged Bits (Fri. 9-Sep-11 1130)

Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….

  1. Anti-Immigrant New Mexico Governor Reveals Her Grandparents Were Undocumented Immigrants | ThinkProgress – Of course, we don’t always support the things our parents or grandparents did … but it does seem a bit odd that she’s never mentioned this before.
  2. Despite 41 DNA Exonerations In Texas In Last 9 Years, Perry Says He Never Loses Sleep Over Executing The Innocent | ThinkProgress – As far as I’m concerned, just this one issue and response disqualifies Perry to be President. That he is either so blissfully certain that the process works that there’s no weight on his shoulders or soul regarding executions — or that he is aware that the process sometimes doesn’t work but is willing to lie to the nation about it — should get him banned from politics altogether. Unfortunately, given the appalling applause when Texas’ execution record was mentinoed, it seems unlikely that those folks, at least, think there’s anything wrong with Perry’s stance.
  3. Romney Advisor: Perry’s Desire To ‘Abolish Social Security’ Is A ‘Disqualifying Position’ | ThinkProgress
  4. Deadbeat Dad Rep. Joe Walsh Wants Ex-Wife To Pay His Legal Bills | ThinkProgress – Ah, the Party of Personal Responsibility.
  5. File Transfer – Okay, this conversation sounds eerily familiar …
  6. CBO confirms (again) that the stimulus worked – If the CBO repeated the truth as often as Boehner, McConnell, the whole GOP congressional delegation, the GOP presidential candidates, Fox News, and the punditry of the Right repeated the lie, maybe we’d get somewhere. Of course, if the Dems were being more vocal about it, including the White House, that wouldn’t hurt, either.
