Bleah.

Things with the Hayman Fire are trending worse again, as 90º+ weather, plus gusty winds and low humidity, stir things up. Winds have been coming back from the S-SW again, blowing the fire back up toward Denver, and prompting more threats of evacuation. The fire is supposedly 47% contained, but that’s always an “as long as” sort of figure.

The map above shows the fire line status from 10 a.m. yesterday, with established fire lines in black. That should keep the fire from spreading much north, but a big jump on the east side yesterday caused havoc.

  1. No new news except bad news this morning. Though some of the firelines on the north end held, high winds and low humidity sent the fire burning eastward, closer to communities. More of the same today is expected. Acreage is up to 120K.
