Because of a technicality in how "major parties" are identified in state law, and lack of anyone on Team Romney paying attention to same, the GOP may not qualify for "major party" status, and it's too late to sign up as a "minor party" for November.
And though nobody thought the GOP wouldn't still be put on the ballot, the local Libertarians are suing to keep it from happening.
Not that Romney was likely to win Washington State, but it could reduce overall GOP turnout there in some other important offices.

Can we get rid of the Electoral College yet? When there are entire states where candidates won't be on the ballot, it makes a farce of the election.
But that's not a matter of the Electoral College, per se. If we got rid of that institution, I'm pretty certain we'd still have the states managing, authorizing, tallying, and reporting for the election process.
