This Way to the Fortress of Solitude!

I guess the classic 60s Superman Fortress of Solitude idea made a lot more sense before radar and satellites and the like.  Of course, back then, it wasn't a giant stack of icy crystal pick-up sticks, but a big door in the side of an icy mountain, with a ginormous arrow-like key pointing to it.  Since only Superman (ha!) could move the key, it should still have been safe, but it still seemed a bit … unsubtle.

These arrows don't point to the Fortress of Solitude. In fact, they point east and west (well, some of them do).  A cool story of a quickly-obsoleted solution.
