I'm not sure we should "start using these again," but they should certainly be sprinkled into period writing (with moderation). And there are a few ("going to iron my shoe laces") that would liven up modern conversations.

I'd need to focus on reintegrating them into my vocabulary one at a time.
I almost picked up a book of slang from the 30s and 40s the other day, but thumbing through it, I saw that I knew almost all of the terms already. These are certainly not as well known, as we don't hear them in old movies.
