That in and of itself raises some interesting questions about the state of the Galaxy three decades after the fall of the Emperor — and also about what generation(s) are going to be involved in the next installment.
Official STAR WARS: EPISODE VII News – Setting and Principal Photography
Up until this point, most of what we’ve heard regarding Star Wars: Episode
VII has been mere rumor or speculation. We all knew that with J.J. Abrams
at the helm any details would be shrouded in secrecy, but this has been
ridiculous. There still hasn’t been a single official casting announcement
made — even for the expected return of the primary cast from the original
trilogy. However, today two pieces of news have dropped straight from …
Yeah, it's going to focus on their kids. I hope they use the characters from the existing Expanded Universe.
At a guess, +Scott Randel, I doubt it, in as much as I doubt J J Abrams would let himself be tied down that much. Or, if he does, expect some Star Trek level tweaks. Which might still be a fine thing, from some perspectives.
My eldest is at college (in the UK that means 16-18 year old Further Ed) studying 3d computer animation. His group won (‘WE DIDN’T WIN, IT WASN’T A COMPETITION’), or at least was judged best in their last assignment. Their ‘Prize’ was to mentor a group of school kids (over half term, so instead of saving £36 in train fares, I ended up giving £100, as it was 8 days, rather than the normal 3 he attends class!)
Part of that was a guided tour of Pinewood Studios. The guide pointed and said ‘And over there is where they will be filming parts of the next Star Wars movie.
35 geeks all turn and go ‘Oooooooo’ (Imagine LGM’s from Toy Story).
Oh, and just to make you go “That’s a degree? I want to do that” he has a provisional offer from University of South Wales in Cardiff for their Computer Games Design course starting September. This year is the first year they ran it, and apparently for the first two weeks they played board games.
That’s right – the start of an accredited degree course is to play Catan, Carcassonne etc!
@LH – Nice!
I’d love to tour Pinewood Studios. Ton of cinematic history there.
Went last Friday to see a TV panel show recorded – unfortunately as a audience member you don’t get to see much -just lots of large buildings, dominated by the 007 stage.
