Yeah, this is a pretty crazy verdict in a pretty awful (but certainly not unheard of) case. A 33-year-old woman hid her pregnancy from her family, then at 24 weeks into the pregnancy took abortion drugs she bought online to end that pregnancy, has been charged and found guilty of both feticide and child neglect.
One might ask how a woman would be convicted under a feticide law that was designed to punish people who injured the woman and caused a miscarriage. One might even more strenuously wonder how a woman could be convicted of both killing her unborn child and killing her born child through neglect.
One might wonder about Indiana, too.
