Using Google searches that include the word "nigger" as a proxy for racism (though particularly against blacks) is an interesting idea. Noting correlation to mortality rates for blacks is even more interesting.
Again, this is looking at just racism toward one group, and has a slight fuzziness around it in trying to control for variant uses of the word, but it's still … interesting.

I think this is misleading. Because frankly, Portland/Oregon is pretty freaking racist towards people of color and African-Americans in general, but there are so few of them, that it probably wouldn’t come up on that search.
