I believe you have chosen wisely, and compassionately.
Our own constitutional system here in the US very intentionally prevents any sort of national plebiscite on constitutional amendments. That's quite probably a good thing, net-net, but it does mean we have to fumble around a lot and for a long time before such changes can happen here.

I think that our system of government has its flaws, and our Constitution in particular does contain numerous maddening things which really would be better handled in legislation. But on the other hand, when it creates opportunities for beauty like this week's referendum; well, we seize it with both hands.
The "home to vote" phenomenon we saw on Friday was one of the most amazing this I've ever seen.
