Back when The Incredibles first came out, someone (Doyce?) made the comment that the writers of the upcoming Fantastic Four movie had to be taking a long drink in despair.
Well, evidently, they’re not going down without a fight.
Two sources have now independently told us that the entire third act of FANTASTIC FOUR has undergone extensive changes as a result of Disney and Pixar’s CGI family film THE INCREDIBLES. As it happens, we’re told that once the creative FF team saw the stretching effects of the INCREDIBLES character Elastigirl, the final battle we’re yet to see in FANTASTIC FOUR needed to be beefed up, especially what the character of Mister Fantastic was slated to do.
Essentially, Fox has coughed up an extra $20MM to the already $100MM being spent to add in extra Stretcho (et al.) time, as well as tweaking the ending to distance it from The Incredibles. Now that’s what a free market economy’s all about, baby.
It still will have a high mark to surpass to beat TI’s story, but we’ll see how they do.

Elasti-Girl impressed me the most in that film. I’ve read quite a few FF books in my day, and I never imagined such fluid movement for a stretchy character. Kudos to Brad Bird!
Her stuff was good (as was all the rest), but, frankly, the “comic book power I’ve never seen so well portrayed” award goes to Fro-Zone, who demonstrated exactly how ice powers “work.” I have problems with the character’s use (aside from some extremely funny lines, his presence in the climactic battle weakens the whole family dynamic thing), but the visualization and use of his powers was just fabulous.
