Let’s see, in the last twenty-four hours …
- More Sarbanes-Oxley Drop Everything and Review This Stuff-for-the-Auditors bomb has fallen into my department’s lap.
- The Massive Strategic Project We Need to Perform Flawlessly On has continued to grow, and to lumber willfully on in all directions despite any efforts to control it or move it forward. It’s actually a set of three distinct Big Nasty Projects, with several Medium Sized Nasty Projects under them that all have little blinking red lights on the status board.
- An Ongoing and Escalating HR Problem has continued to suck time and energy. Yet another Significant But Barely Under Control one has taken a turn for the worse in immediacy.
- The Critical Project We’ve Barely Managed To Address Thus Far But Cannot Afford to Bumble has some critical decision points and meetings this week and the person who was leading that up for me has told me that they need someone to hand it off to because of all the above points. Which, most likely, will mean me.
- Another Major Must-Do Project goes online next week, and while I hope all is well with it damned if I can spend any attention on it.
- Another Drop-Dead Critical Needed for Billable Project Operations Work project has been lobbed my way, and even though I think I can hand it off, it’s going to take several hours to do so in a fashion that doesn’t cause serious blow-back.
So maybe, today, not so much on the blog, but a bit more from the hip flask …
