Hit 41 with Amorpha and Psi-clone (and at about 2 a.m.), huzzah. Ran our first PI mission, dealt with Malta ambushers, dealt with Knives of Artemis, etc.
Actually, the Malta bit was amusing (in a “My God, we’re all going to die” way). We’d just finished doing some mission that was likely to torque the Malta off. We split up — I went to Talos to shop, A. went to Skyway.
“Huh. Ambush. Ow!”
So I began slowly flying that direction. She was at a store, and had ducked inside — but felt honor-bound to do something about it when she was healed because there were others outside dealing with her mess.
So I’m flying back over Skyway, slowly, and I can see her health indicator going up and down, and hear crashes and explosions and such from her monitors —
— and wham! red numbers roll up on me, too, and I toppled to the ground. Ouch.
Heal. Look. Nobody’s around. Fly to Amorpha, get there just as she wraps up the last of them.
Except, clearly, more are coming — I’d overflown them (nothing native to Skyway would be likely to shoot at me, let alone do that much damage).
So we prepped and waited, and here they came down the way, and before I could do much here comes the first wave of missiles …
Ouch.
Then the second wave.
Ouch.
And I’m staggering for the door to the store. Get inside. Heal. Rest. Explosions from Margie’s monitor. “I have the Titan. I have the Sapper.”
Stagger back out. Turn. Blind. Heal.
Whoosh.
Yeah. That was exciting. Now, who was the idiot who suggested that Malta story arcs for the 40-45 range might be fun?
For what it’s worth, Margie’s already decided she dislikes the Knives more. Yes, they see right through our Invis. (and go Invis. themselves), and they use those frelling caltrops with gay abandon. That said, they blind and turn as easily as anyone else, and I can Fly over the caltrops (though fighting at a ruinous Endurance rate), so I can think of far worse opponents.
That gameplay started later in the evening. During most of the day, we were running Mister Thorne and Undone, either by ourselves or with some of the other CoI, which was fun. Hit 14 with both of them so we have (huzzah!) travel powers (Fly and Tport, respectively, and are being made painfully reaware of just how Endurance-sucking both of them can be at the beginning) … 🙂
Willing to help out on the Malta (Puck pwnz Malta), if you are willing to help me out with the Psychic Clockwork King…or at least be anchors for more folks. 🙂
My Stalker got his travel power: Super Speed. My first other than Fly. Nice and fast, but awkward in the Rogue Isles. I’d like to have a talk with the city planners!
Oh, he was greeted with a ((Hi, Avocet)) by a viallainess, who turned out to be Jackie! Quite a surprise, though I think I irritated her again, this time by declaring myself to be old (Why not? I’m constantly reminded of it in-game and at work!).
And now my Mastermind has a travel power: Teleportation. I’m relly liking it now that I’ve figured out that you can trigger another teleport before the first one has gone off, so you don’t have to fall 200 feet to the pavement every hop.
My Brute is still 12, so no Super Jump yet.
Oh, Dave, I saw your new Defender today, but Global showed him as being in Breakout! (That’s the second time it’s incorrectly listed a hero as being in the Rogue Isles. Anyone else seen this?) I tried to Tell you, but it returned an error message about not seeing a Villain. And a Tell to your Global didn’t go through because it said you weren’t on, even though you still showed up as being on Champion. Most strange.
I’ve heard tell of cases where the @Global Friends list gave a different answer from the SG list (one or both of which didn’t match what I was seeing with the character, either). I’m not sure how frequently or how that data is created.
Did a bunch of Malta this evening. No big problem, as long as we were ready for ’em. Turn the Sapper, blind the Ops Engineer, Spectral Terror the lot of ’em. Piece of cake.
I have just gotten use to typing the @global address for those currently on the other side.
My little stalker got her travel power too, hooray!! Though the weekend of disconnects kept me from playing with her all too much after I leveled. More soon, I hope.
The listings for global friends are pretty screwy. If you are on the villain side, it shows heroes in the equivalent level-range villain zone. So heroes on Peregrine Island show up as being listed in Grandville, despite Grandville not being available until Issue 7 (hopefully).
As for Malta… Neither Malta prople nor Knives really really bugged me much after my first sick ambush with them (dialed up in difficulty, had multiple ambushes spawn at once and then camp a block from the hospital to wait for me to come back out).
Oh, BD, happy to help with the Clockwork King if you can get a team to anchor me down for it.
Also…
Last night was the first time that I have seen the in mission ambushes like they have CoV side.
Four waves of Council Mecha’s inside the mission before it completed. One more outside while I was busy toggling up all the things that dropped while zoning.
Too. Much. Fun.
Tonight, with Zot, I have the great big outdoor plant the Camo’d inviso-bomb mission that took Livid several hours to complete yesterday.
Joy…
I’ve run across plenty of in-mission ambushes on the CoH side. Sometimes nasty, sometimes pathetically easy.
It’s the post-zoning toggle drop that really blow.
Gasta now has Teleport…Huzzah!
Last night while in a PuG running Gasta”
“Why didn’t heal me?” (From dead guy who was across the room)
“Well, the 5 people near me are doing fine, so I decided to not put them in danger just to rescue you.”
I love being a villain healer. ;p
Also…
Ran across several folks calling themselves the Shadow Phalanx.
Odd.
Heh.
I do love, as I fly along with PC, spotting folks in healing trouble (or even dead), swooping down and healing/buffing/rezzing. It’s just fun.
Umm… I know which Alliance player created the Shadow Phalanx. I was invited to join, but all three of my villains are already in groups.
