Two by two into the Arc

We’re trying our darnedest to get Psi-clone and Amorpha into the Omega Level Clearance (the Body Snatchers, I think is the formal title) story arc. I’ve finally gotten the initial mish on it from the contact; Margie keeps trying added missions from him, as well as clearing other missions and stuff, to (as yet) no avail.
Still, plenty of Rikti goodness last night. Died, both of us, twice, on the same mission (each of ours — unsynced, so we didn’t get to both take mission credit on one). Mistakes on our part — rushing in and not having the sense to rush back out.
PC is being hampered a bit by

… frelling Drones that both spot through the Invis and, themselves, don’t render on my screen until I’m practically in their visual range, too (is that a graphics setting problem or just the way it is? I can certainly see the Headmen and other full-size Rikti earlier on, and the Drones will reticle — they just aren’t visible until it’s nearly too late). Lesson: “Walk carefully, Grasshopper …” (a/k/a, “Don’t get cocky, kid”).

  • … the lack of perma-Hasten. Still have the power on PC, but it’s good for only about 2/3 the time, and the rest of the time I feel sluggish. That becomes a real issue when the balloon goes up and I need to pump A with heals and heal myself and call out Fred and his cousins to run interference and blind anything that moves and
Hrm. An AoE control might be of use. I might have to look into that Flash power I’ve never taken.

  • … the lack of status proection. I just picked up my “Restrained” badge last night, meaning I’ve been held/slept/mezzed a whole bunch. Not to mention (thanks again, Drones) knocked on my ass too often. Especially when A goes down and they all instantly turn their firepower on me … So I need to pop Breakfrees more, and I need to look into Acrobatics, and …

Hrm. Maybe a good thing I still have a trial respec.

  1. Puck Got Omega clearance last weekend….
…way to many Rikti to be good for you.
Two more missions and I will have the Terra AV mission. Everything is conning at 40, so it would be great for Psi and Amorpha.
Especially now that DE aren’t dropping emiters.

  2. Also…I am going to wait until 42 to respec Puck, though to be honest I really see no difference between pre and post i6.

  3. DE aren’t dropping emitters? DE aren’t dropping emitters?!
(Thinks back to the DE mish Wednesday night.) You’re right. Hot damn.
    Is that a bug?
Let us know on the Terra AV. Conning 40 is no problema for us, as you note.

  4. Ok…When it pops up I will let you know.
I do not know if it is a bug or not. I really have mixed feelings about it since I was 90% of the way to getting the DE Emitter badge, but I am very glad that they don’t pop up since it makes them like little teddy bears now….except for the Swarms.

  5. Omega Level Clearance? What the heck is Omega Level Clearance?
This is a story arc?Is it some new I6 content? Who gives out these missions?

  6. Omega level Clearance is souvenir from a Story Arc:
    Steven Sheriden – Contact
    Organ Grinders – Arc Title
    35 – 40 Levels
The worst parts were the Hunt 35 and hunt 45 Rikti…sooooo time consuming.

  7. Nah. Just pop over into Crey, hit some Monkey swarms just inside the gate. Easy-peasy. Especially with Fred to help.
    (Organ Grinders. That’s it.)

  8. Ok…let me rephrase that.
Time consuming for no XP. 🙂
If I remember correctly you can only have 3 story/badge arcs going on at the same time. So Margie might have some old plot hanging off of a contact….or she might be full up with the current ones.
I still want some sort of visual reference on the Contact pull down that would show you at a glance that the contact was done handing out missions to you.
Though I do love that contacts now hand out all the Insp’s from the get go…so very handy.

  9. As to Hasten…
Zot is the first of my ‘Toons to have it…so…for me it is more of a “I-need-to-do-a-lot-of-damage-quickly” power.
Currently it is 2 slotted with recharge.
Zot is also going to be my first ‘Toon with Build up since I can actually see a use for it with Stalkers. Need all the Acc and Dam you can get for that first strike. 🙂

  10. I’ve checked my old contacts and haven’t got any open one there. I know that Ginger is ready to give me the DE story arc, so that may be already open and taking up a slot. I have two missions left on the ‘Path of Darkness’ story arc. If I recall correctly you can only have 2 active story arcs at a time. I am planning on finishing the Path Arc and trying Steven again.
What is odd about Dave getting the arc is according the stuff from coldfront, the mission he has now should be the second mission (recover the stolen blood) in the arc. He never did the first mission (defeat all the riki in the lab). I’m sure we would have remembered finding all the body parts. I thought that I was onto it when I got a ‘rescue the kidnapped doctors’ mission but that turned out to just be chicken pox. I then got the ‘prove that I’m not a traitor’ mission which Dave got just before his current arc mission. But still no stolen blood for me 🙁
We so need some sort of story arc indicator. And one for timed missions too!

  11. Sheridan, huh? Yeah, Avocet did some work for him. Then he got sidetracked, and now I don’t think Sheridan will talk to him anymore.

  12. Weird that DE aren’t dropping emitters. Are they spawning those weird snot-ball things that spit out more DE?
As for the first two missions on Organ Grinder, haven’t looked at the Coldfront site, but if they listed them as the one with the ‘human organs’ clue and the one with the ‘human blood’ clue they aren’t actually required missions to start the story-arc.
They usually ( almost always ) come up first, because they are very much teasers and intros to the story-arc, but aren’t apparently part of it. I helped someone ( one of the Knights, don’t recall which ) finish the arc and then they got both of those missions. *shrugs* Your mileage may vary.

  13. Oh, and hasten. If you are having problems with it dropping during fights, there is always the option of un-perma’ing it and just using it as a normal self-buff click power. *shrugs*
Given that most of the time I imagine it is up and running is in the time you are traveling around the map between fights ( which often is most of the time spent on a mission map, moving between bits of sudden violence and chaos ) where it isn’t providing too much benefit, you might want to give that a go and just remember to hit it before you charge in so that you know it will be up and active for the fight.
Drones though… They render odd on my machine too, more so on interior maps then outdoor ones. And I hate them. Nothing in the game I hate more then drones. Sniper eyesight, freakish defense, and their damned guns can stun/disorient or cause knockdown.
( Unrelated sidenote, only thing in game I still fear to fight are Master Illusionist’s, psi-damage, intangible-going, flying, pet-summoning, brats in hoopskirts with bad hair… )

  14. I am a lazy player. Remembering to trigger stuff before combats is a PitA, esp. if it’s not always available.
If Hasten is up 2/3 of the time or so, then I’d just as soon let it “average out” and deal with the down times. YMMV.
