I smell respec!

Okay, so Mental Blast from the Psionic Mastery epic pool is a real bust – lowish damage, very slow (3 sec) activation.
So I’m looking for a replacement power. I noticed this evening that I have a respec, so …
Top choices:

  1. Flash: I don’t have any AoE spell (beyond pets), so this might be handy, just as another tool on the belt. It’s a low-level Illusion Control power, an PAoE blind.
  2. Superior Invisibility: On the one hand, not really necessary given that I have Group Invis. On the other hand, being a toggle instead of a click, it would allow me to do the Invis thing indefinitely. That might be nice.
  3. Regenerative Aura: Nobody turns down Regen Aura on the team. I’d rather do something more aggressive than add another Empathy power, but, it’s a very nice Empathy power, doing an AoE health recovery boost for 60 seconds. Wouldn’t be able to fully slot it, though, so 8 minute recharge or 37.5 Endurance cost would stay highish.
  4. Vengeance: I had this planned at one point, then dropped it. Add DMG, ACC, DEF to a team (AoE) if someone on it dies. Might be cool to have, though only as a team player, less useful as a duo …

Other powers in the pools I don’t have are Absorb Pain (I’m usually the one low on HP, thanksverymuch) and Clear Mind (definitely not something I need with Amorpha). Also Health (I’m an Empath), Hover/Group Fly (yawn), Flurry (I have Air Superiority), Super Speed (hmmmm), and Maneuvers (which is so tiny an increment these days, from my understanding, that it’s not really worth it). Oh, and Psionic Tornado (definitely not in keeping with the character).
Thoughts? I’m leaning still toward Flash, but I can see how Vengeance might be situationally handy.

  1. Really?!?
Psonic blast is Puck’s favourite attack and her highest damamge dealer. It is faster than all of her other attack (ok…so she only has three attacks, one being the toss up and down that does like 25 damage tops)…wow she sure was screwed attack wise.
Vengence is nice, but since we genenrally have such good teams, folks don’t die enough to use it (Come on guys…die more! ;P ).
Psonic tornado is great because it is a really big AoE attack that doubles on foes that are held. *glee*

  2. First, I kind of agree with BD.
    Second:
Flash, followed by Psionic Tornado… Doubled AoE damage, and everyone’s standing nice and still for Amorpha to do her wacky AoE’s… it’s a lot of good stuff.
If you go for flash, drop it right after Amorpha’s pulled aggro with her PBAoE, and incoming damage on BOTH of you will drop dramatically.

  3. Psionic blast is so much slower than Spectral Wounds (3 seconds activation vs. 1 second) or even Blind (1.8 sec) that it just drives me freaking nuts.
Psionic Tornado would probably be a nice min-max power, but it just doesn’t work for the character’s design.
Agreed with the timing for Flash. I’ve gotten pretty good, at the same time, at dropping Scary Sam — er, Spectral Terror — just as I see Amorpha’s “wacky AoE” go off. And since we’re always Invis., there’s usually not a big problem with getting them set up for that alpha strike.
    Pondering.

  4. Ummm…
    3 seconds?
Time to take Herostats away from you. ;P
I guess all three of Pucks attacks are in the 3 second range, as is the individual hold, so the attack chain works out perfectly.
Hold, Psonic Blast, Propel….repeat. (Psonic blast is doing damage in the 130 – 150 range, and Propel is doing damage in the 110 – 130 range. That damage is of course doubled because of the hold.)
    Or
Group hold, Hold, Psonic tornado, Psonic blast, Hold, Propel, Psonic Blast, Hold, Propel, Psonic blast….
The group hold recharge is in the 2 minute range.
“Grav controllers…not only are our attacks slow, but we don’t do a lot of damage either.” ;P

  5. Maybe we don’t do a lot of damage, but we make em stand there for it. 🙂
I kind of wish there was a way to pick between a free respec, or more costume slots, or an influence/prestige bonus when they activate a new issue. I have toons with 2 or in Sword’s case 3 respecs lined up, untouched. I’d as soon he got the inf bonus, or a 100K prestige dump, “For returning the gifts of the city, to those who need it most, her citizens.”
With a chioce of those three, I could get which I wanted/needed more.
    Ah well.

  6. That would be nice. Or maybe you could trade them with others — that could be cool, too.
Or maybe storage devices in bases for respecs … 🙂
