Monday, Monday

Hostess Heroes time, with both Ho Ho and Princess Peep dinging to 15.
Did a few KR mishes, then a couple of Perez mishes. The latter of which were both very low level, but we did get a chance — my first time — to fight the Kraken.
Which was, frankly, a bit of a disappointment. Nobody really took any damage, and he was not nearly as impressive-looking as I’d expect.
Still, cool times. Alas, next Monday I am out of town (or, rather, traveling back in town), so likely won’t get on. Which makes me sad, because right now Ho Ho’s one of the slightly more experienced in the group, which is helpful for a tank. Oh, well.
Also need to keybind some witty one-liners for her.

  1. Kraken-y goodness! Aw! Sorry I missed it. I do need to come up with a few more fun things for Snap to say and do with keybinds, and I remain entertained when I manage to hit one accidently.
I need something fast for my Zapp, so I can let my wonderful, wonderful team know when I’m trying to snipe someone, one those very few occasions when we can’t take on the entire room.
Until then, I guess I can stick with my “Ready, Aim, Snap!”

  2. I use F1 for my “Hey, look at that $target” key (and use it extensively, clearly). So I use Shift-F1 for “Hey, I’m gonna chop/target/confuse $target” keybind.

  3. Hmm… That’s good thinking. I have never used the function keys for my Insps, so I can bind my emotes to those and free up tray slots where I currently have the macros for them. Is there a trick to binding to a shifted key?
What about something like “Lemme gingerly snap $target” for Snap’s snipe? It’s a little more explicit (I never realized that the current one indicated you were about to snipe).

  4. F1 – Point out stuff.
    F2 – Wait
    F3 – Need to rest
    F4 – Be right back/AFK
    F5 – Huzzah
    F6 – RUN!
    F7 – Ready!
    F8 – Help!
    F9 – (usually unused)
    F10 – (Typing)
T – (cycle through “color” tells)
That’s the usual setup for my characters.
It can be, whilst fumbling for keys, easy to hit one of the messages, but it’s still easier for doing these sorts of things, some of which are default.

  5. I have this on only a couple of characters, e.g., Fazenda. Each time I tap “T” she says something appropriately colorful in combat (“Nothing up my sleeves — but my fist!” or “Eenie, weenie, chili-beenie, the spirits are about to whup your arse!”).
It’s actually kind of a clumsy thing to put together — a bind that says something then load a new keybind file that replaces what that key does for the next time. I think Fazenda has 15 different things to say that way before it recycles.
    Doyce explains the mechanics here.
