Lynn activities

Last night was going to sort of be the kickoff to the Boomtown Saints team activities (I do not envy Doyce trying to figure out how to get a 41, a 33, two 28s, a 14 and a 13 all doing something productive, until we get a few more at each of those levels), so I signed on with Lynn, who’s joined the group.
(While Lynn is definitely not saintly, she does find the whole thing very gothic, what with the titles and all that, plus she actually digs the street-level bits, so there’s potentially a good fit there.)
Official proceedings were delayed, so I ran her through some more Croatoa missions, until she got an invite for a PUG in Croatoa. She was the lowest of the team, which ran from 27 to 32, but, hey, good XP, right?
Hrm.
It was the “save the 4 hostages from a huge outdoors hillside platforms Faerie map full of Redcaps” missoin, and we suffered both attrition in deaths (largely avoidable — lots of “I’ll go scout over here, hey, aggro, oh, Quantum, crap ..” kinds of things) and, ultimate, players, which then led back to the first kind of death.
Throw in a bubbler who wouldn’t advanced with the big combat bubble, a blaster who kept knocking away all my opponents, and folks who … well, let’s just say it’s a whole sainthood-earning string of miracles that we managed to both complete the mission and I only died once.
After that, Epitaph was on, so I ran with him a bit, kind of getting some beginning RP into the relationship (Lynn is both fascinated and freaked out by the Kheldians, and is freaked out by her being freaked out by it). Wrapped up a Council mission, then off to fight Crey — which, unexpectedly, led to Paragon Protectors, which Lynn, amazingly, did not die in front of (and, hopefully, contriibuted toward the defeat of).
It was fun doing more actual RP with her, as well as doing the very scrappery duo. I look forward to the next (coughGAMECALENDARcough) time.

  1. I’m actually really intrigued by a couple things with Lynn’s character, and the fact that she managed to turn the kitty-on-the-shoulder costume bit into something both IC and kinda goth-creepy.
Superficial parallels to Hekuba, there are many — I think you’ll have fun with the RP there.
Really, REALLY glad that Lynn was along for that Crey mission — those PP’s would have wiped the floor with him, I am QUITE sure — a couple of tight moments during the fights, but it was nice to pull each of them out without getting too many lacerations on the skin of our teeth.
It’s interesting running with scrappers and blasters. So far, Ep’s been teamed up with a LOT of Defenders and Tanks, which makes him “The Damage”. Having a lot of blasters and scrappers around means that he’s getting close to maxed out (85%) resistances, but can’t make really great use of it as a fake tank, since he doesn’t have a taunt-aura like human-form Warshades do (which kinda sucks).
All in all, lots of fun.
DAMN I need to get into a store and buy him some new inspirations — half his attack slots are empty and the other half are deep yellow.

It is, indeed, something that is a creepy aspect to her, once I look forward to playing with more. As a soloist/PUGist, she’s not had much chance to play with that sort of thing.

Glad I was there, then. It was pretty dicey (especially when we ran into the second one almost on top of the first).
Granted that Invuln isn’t as uber as Regen (cough), I was pleased by how she’s been handling in melee.
All her enh slots are (finally) full, but there’s a lot of yellow in there, and very little green in the bank. She’s midway (heh) between DOs and SOs, too.

  3. Well, she certainly didn’t seem freaked out by my Warshade (“Hey, Squiddy”). Dave seemed a bit abashed that I compared her to Vin Shadow Myst, and a bit later to Callypsa. I don’t know Hekuba well enough to draw any parallels.
My Kheld has mostly soloed. Been playing him quite a bit this week. Teamed with Sean’s Peacebringer – not so good. Teamed with a Cally alt; he got the defensive bonus, which was nice. With Lynn, the damage bonus was noticeable. Yesterday I teamed briefly with a Blaster and a Scrapper, for even more damage!
There are two new applicants to the Saints, both level 7, which would make the SK/EX situation worse except for the fact that my work schedule means I’ll probably never get to participate in any organized Group events. I’ve applied because these two characters were made as a team (and supposed to play only with each other, to maintain equitable levels), so when the other character applied, I figured I would too. I’m assuming that the one who can play with you guys will outstrip the other, and I’ll lose interest in my character, but I hope not. We’ll see.

  4. She kinda goes hot and cold (and I’m still finding her voice on it) on the Kheldians. She’s chatted a bit with one of the Shrike squiddies, too. Regardless, she’s most likely to go for the bravado side of things by default.
I’m leaning on Margie to move Kazima or Fallen Twice into the Saints (both would have an interesting aspect to bring to them), which will add to the level spread 🙂 but will make me feel less guilty about abandoning her to Blue Point every other Thursday.
