Costumary

Hmm. Evidently I didn’t quite take seriously the memo that all several of the Hostess Heroes were going to do themselves up as Freedom Phalanx sorts.

Evidently everyone else did.

Evidently Ho Ho was supposed to be made up as Infernal.

Hmmmm.

  1. Well, it got chatted about in the HH mailing list, and I heard at least a few people who seemed to be taking it seriously.
So … I’ll see what time I have when I get home, and whether I have the money/tokens to do it. I’m annoyed at myself because I just burned two tokens over the weekend (one of which was due to an inadvertent click on “save”).

  2. Totally optional, IMO, Dave. 🙂 It was just an offhand joke several folks took off and ran with.
I’ll note, also, that Ginger totally went off and did her own hero, ignoring the Synapse thing entirely, so don’t worry about Infernal (though he’s far and away one of the easiest “canon” heroes to do).
That said, he’s not Freedom Phalanx anyway. 🙂

  3. And … brilliant! Marvelous Infernal costume! Excellent! Hit of the ball! Award-winning! Best of show! And …
    … GAH!
Frelling costume maker’s busted. Medieval armor pants? White. Always white. No matter how many costume tokens you drop on it, trying other colors. WHITE.
So … white Infernal armor. “Sorta like Infernal crossed with a Storm Trooper.”
“‘Sides, white devils a lot scarier than black devils, you know what I mean?”
    Feh.
    (/petition, /petition, /petition)

  4. And …
    I am a dolt.
Can we all say, “You’re in SG mode, Dave, so some of the costume pieces might be in SG colors?”
    *sigh*
I did file a /petition saying, “I am an ass. Ignore what I said.”

  5. *sigh*
Jeez. Doyce knew it. Avo suggested it. And, of course, the Petition Help Desk had it pegged immediately.

Thank you for contacting the PlayNC Support Team. Please verify that your character is not in super group mode when you are making costume changes. Try to toggle out of super group mode to see if you are able to view the changes. If you continue to have problems with this issue, please update this support ticket instead of sending a new one to ensure a faster response time.

  6. I apologized profusely to the support team (doubtless they’ve seen/heard this a zillion times before).
I wonder if there’s a way to make this error more intuitive/obvious to solve.
… A note upon exiting from the costume creator that “You are currently in SG mode, and not all colors you selected may show up. Should we set it so that all the colors you selected are overriding your SG mode colors?”
… A visual indicator in the costume selector (the SG logo) to denote you’re in SG mode.
I dunno … something to protect dolts like me from making this kind of goof.

  7. Not that I haven’t done the exact same thing before (well, minus the whole petion thing. ;P ).
But, seconds after fussing about it, it dawned on me to check the SG Toggles.
Live and Learn Dave, Live and Learn. 🙂

  8. Yeah, the *really* annoying thing here is that I’ve done it before, too. It’s just been a while. I usually shove all my color settings out of the SG colors. problem is, the armor pants are treated in their own category (“Armor”), so it wasn’t previously unset for Ho Ho.
    Ah, well.
