Mass transit

Not only is the Green Line being extended to Skyway (down south, by the Faultline gate, making Skyway the equivalent of Steel), but the hoi-polloi will soon be tramming their way over to Founders Falls (south of the Pocket D entrance).  Woot!

  1. Man. I’ve been playing this game for three years now and they just keep making everything easier. If there’s a train to Founders and I can get to Skyway on the Greenline, what impetus do I have to learn the best ways around and, in doing so, experience content that I might not have?
It was while running around trying to find the Mutant store in Steel that I got my first badge – a feature which I didn’t even know existed at the time. I like the icons on the maps, but I can’t even see the map of Talos anymore.
I know I sound like an old man, but I like some challenge in my games. If it’s just log on, click and fight… There are tons of other games just like that I don’t want to play.

  2. I, too, have a sort of “You young whippersnappers have no idea” attitude towards transit in Paragon these days (between Pocket D, base portals, expanding the tram system, and temp travel powers for the under-14 class, “Oh, the places you can go!”), but I’m just too relieved that if I have a mish off in another zone (“Take this widget to Azuria! Now, come back to the guy in Founders!”) I don’t have to take five minutes and three screen transitions to get from Point A to Point B.
That said, there’s still a need for movement within zones. But, honestly, travel time is some of my least favorite stuff in CoX (finding the right “store” ranks up there, too).
In terms of exploration, the best thing I’ve seen for that of late are the various Mayhem/Safeguard mishes that instance bits of zones. I’ve poked around in corners of Steel and Kings and the like that I had no idea existed.
