Meanwhile, back in Eriador …

Though we keep talking about doing up some other duos (including reimagining Rita and Runt — Mistral/Guardian? Burglar/Champion? Elf/Dwarf? (“An elf?  Where?  Where?  Where’s the elf?”)), we continued moving along with Frelliel and Frellien, our elvish hunters — now around … 13? … and finally moving into Shire after waaaaaay too many unsuccessful attempts to duo a fellowship mish, even at teal.

Still having fun.  And now that I’ve finally gotten to an auction house and see how it works — I seriously just need to sell a bunch of stuff I’ve been lugging around rather than wait to auction it.  I am strawberries-rich and silver-poor, such that I am behind on picking up some very valuable skills from the trainer (well, all those repair costs didn’t help, either).

  1. I bet I know which quest you’re talking about — is it the one with the elite dwarves down by the harbor that CANNOT be pulled in anything less than a group of three?
Yeah. That is non-negotiable: fellowship required. Frakking thing is murder. Pure murder. I tried to help Kate’s minstrel out with that on a level 20 character, and we wiped repeatedly. You need a least four at level 13ish, and character balance is key.

  2. Doyce, yup, that would be the one.
The scary thing is, Margie discovered (later reading about it) that we nearly, nearly had it. In fact, twice. With hunters we could stealth the boat. That drops as soon as we speak to the Ranger, which in turn triggers a wave of attacks. Twice we nearly had them down before dying (and, with the long reset on the stealth power, we’d no desire to wait to go back in to finish the job).
Again, the contrast with CoX — numbers (of bad guys) really do count, even if they are lower levels.
We made up for it by going in and doing the non-instanced find the treasure boxes mission. Enjoyed killing dwarves wholesale. 🙂
Solonor — thanks, we’ll check it out.
