See what happens when an F4 is launched against a concrete wall, as part of a test to see what would happen if an aircraft was used against a nuclear facility. Gives a bit of a new spin to the questions about the jet liner that crashed into the Pentagon …

Won’t help; conspiracy theorists are immune. But the disintegration of the jet is typical of full-speed collisions which they’d know if their interest in structural matters preceded 9/11. In the Valu-Jet crash in Fla., ‘twern’t nuthin’ left – no wrecked fusilage, not much in the way of bodies.
One of my favorite quotes from Edward Tufte- “Velocity squared is like shipping and handling; it will get you every time.”
Thanks Dave, reading your blog points me to some of the coolest things.

It reminds me of the tests at the Flats to ensure that 371 could stand up to a 747 flying into it (do not give me any bull that no one had never thought of flying a plane into a building, because these tests were done in the late ’70s) as well as rocket propelled cars to defeat potential car bombs and such in the late 80’s.
