A snowy thumb, not a green one, this weekend

Well, with plenty of snow forecast for today / tonight / tomorrow, and a blanket already on the ground, so much for another weekend of potential yardwork.

Of course, it’s a lot less necessary than it was looking to be. Our lawn-cutting guy came by on Tuesday, and offered for a reasonable fee to rake up the winter’s leaves out of the beds and clean up the deadwood. Margie IMed me, I said okay, and they did so.

Um, with amazing thoroughness. I tend to, um, naturally mulch a lot of the beds (i.e., a lot of the dead stuff gets left, partly for weed control, partly for moisture retention, partly partly for laziness). Well, that all got cleaned up, since they were anything but lazy in the effort. And, in fact, that’s probably a good (if somewhat unexpected) thing, since it opens up the beds for some added planting (looks at the Botanic Garden calendar), shaping, and control. Though I might need to do some mulching all around in a few weeks.

They didn’t touch the new beds around the front yard, which is good. And I still have the potted plants to get in the ground — but … not this weekend.

Yay!
