Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….
- Babel Hobbits – Which just goes to show that not every Tolkien rendition can be to everyone’s liking.
- Sam’s Tasty Art: Forgotten Princesses – These are (satirically) brilliant. Hester Prynne, Ophelia, and Jocasta as Disney Princesses (and their “signature” songs). HA!
- More bias in US against Muslims than other faiths – As one commenter noted, you can’t dislike something you don’t know — that’s not “dislike,” that’s “fear.”
- This is not my holiday – It is a holiday for all of us, just in different ways. Until, eventually, I hope people will wonder why it had to be celebrated at all.
- It’s not like they’re real people or anything – Yeah, there are some fundamental problems here (e.g., this is targeting prostitutes, not their customers). Regardless of whether prostitution should be decriminalized, the application of laws such as this are unjust and unhelpful.
- How to Complain About Your Publisher in Public – I’d say this is extensible to most professional employeer/employee relationships. You must have the right — and the will — to speak out against your employer in a matter of serious interest and concern. You also need to have the discretion to know when is (and is not) the right time.
- Bullies – Money graf: “In the particular case in California, the ADF is vehemently arguing that the Constitution doesn’t mind that the heterosexual majority has voted to restrict the rights of the non-heterosexual minority. Contrary to what Mr. Nimocks might like to think, that is not ‘the democratic process.’ The technical term for a majority voting to give itself rights while denying those same rights to the minority is ‘mob rule.’ Which is different.”
- I think maybe part of the reason you’re so angry is you keep demanding that you get screwed and then, not surprisingly, you keep getting screwed – A very polite and patient note to all the THE GUVMINT IS OUT TO TAKE US OVER WITH THEIR TAKEOVER OF HEALTH CARE TAKEOVER! crowd.
- The New Shadow: Tolkien and Table-Top Gaming – Wow … there’s some serious game fodder in there. Or, hell, file off the serial numbers, and you could probably do a pretty good book or twelve.
- Browser Usage Data Visualized [Infographic] – Pretty cool graphic (click through to the Flash).
- This Just In: Teachers not allowed to have a life outside of school. – Ah, the face(book) of vanishing privacy.
