Newt's Florida-pandering suggestion that we would have a permanent Moon base by the end of his second term is a nice goal, but for the wrong reasons and by the wrong means.
Like the author (who also wrote here http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronomy/2012/01/27/the-gingrich-who-stole-the-news-cycle/ ) I'd love to see a Moon base. But Newt's suggestion is the product of a grandiose ego, or else simply an attempt to get cheers from a Florida space center crowd … or, of course, probably both. #ddtb
