Bitter much?

Dear Angry Guy in California, if you want to express your anger over Prop 30 and the President suggesting that people with oodles of money should help pay for the society that helped them get and/or maintain that wealth … then probably the last people you should be stiffing is your waitstaff. Not only are you increasing the chance that next time you visit your service will be sub-par, but you're not going to make them say, "Gosh, perhaps I shouldn't have voted Democratic [assuming they did] because it is hurting my tips."

Jerk.

  1. Actually, I think the service will be fine. In fact, I think he'll be getting a little "extra" if he shows his face again. Don't insult the people who handle your food in private, dumbass.

Easier to remember version: Don't Insult People.

  2. +Dave Hill I'm not familiar with Waiter Rant, but I can guess what it is. I have other rules I follow too. Don't reduce your waiter's tip for bad food. Should something cause you to get your meal for free, tip based on the original cost anyway. For really good service, mention it to another staff member as you leave – someone in authority if you can, but anyone otherwise.

  3. 1. I can't say. I tried to do a search about it, and only find repeats of the initial story. I would say it rings true (in that I can believe someone of that mindset would do such a thing), but it is, at this point, wholly anecdotal.

    2. If true, it may not be a Republican, but if not I'd expect it to be someone who thinks the Republicans are too namby-pamby on taxes themselves.

  4. +Al Hunt – I try not to reduce my tip for bad food (a lot may depend on if it's bad enough that I complain, and how the waiter deals with that). And yes, tips should always be against full value, not what you got with your free meal or coupon.  And, yes, I've been known to complement the waiter to the maitre d' on the way out.

  5. Never insult people who handle your food. It’s the reason I only ate out with my former son-in-law once. I do wonder if it’s legit, though.

  6. Wow, what a Dick.

Here’s hopping that he doesn’t plan on eating there again, both for the underpaid waitstaff and for his own health if they see him again.
