I sent an invite to read my blog to my folks. This is because I’m lazy and uncommunicative over the phone. So when my folks call up and say, “So, how are things going? What’s new? What was your business trip like?” I’m really bad at giving all of those topics the diligent treatment they are due.
It would be so much easier to say, “Well, did you read my blog?” And give me a sense of moral superiority (“Here I’ve typed all this up, just for you, and you haven’t read it yet?”) rather than inferiority (“Oh. Well, uh, nothing much is going on. I guess.”).
And as long as I don’t talk about that one topic — oh, hi, folks! Mom, Dad, how’s it going? Welcome to my blog!
