Averdata believes that the file blog/davesblog.php is what’s causing the problem.
Which is … this … file.
Congratulations. If you are reading this, you just caused a big blip in somebody’s monitoring file.
So either my DotComments code for 42 posts is causing serious problems, or the mere fact that this is a PHP script (as opposed to straight HTML) is causing a problem, or … something else. Or else Averdata’s logs are all screwy.
At this point, it seems 99% certain that I’m headed somewhere else, since, lacking any idea of what’s causing Averdata to have fits, I can’t really resolve the problem. Many, many sincere and heartfelt thanks to those of you who have actually offered to host me on your own sites — I really appreciate it, but since I see that as only a short-term solution, and I’m at heart a lazy person, I’d hate to take you up on it and then be moving once more shortly thereafter. I.e., I want to find a permanent (as permanent as anything on the Net can be) home, not a place to doss down for the night.
I’ve gotten some leads on some decent-sounding hosts and, barring any other difficulties, I should be able to transition in the timeframe provided.
*Sigh* I suppose not the worst thing that could happen to me, by any means. 🙂
