AOL Time Warner has filed suit against Micro$oft, seeking damages for its illegal monopolistic practices and the damage it did to Netscape (which AOL bought back in ’99).

Since the basic facts of the case have already been ruled on in Federal court, AOL-T-W will likely have as easy a time of it as anyone might have suing The Beast of Redmond.

Quoth the Beast:

Microsoft spokesman Jim Desler said the company had not reviewed the Netscape lawsuit and could not comment on specific allegations but added: “AOL purchased Netscape for $10 billion, now AOL wants to blame Microsoft for Netscape and AOL’s own mismanagement.”

Of course, while my dislike of Micro$oft is not in question, I’m not exactly a fan of AOL, nor am I particularly interested in replacing one Tyrannical Computer Industry Monolith with another.

But as long as they’re willing to spend a lot of effort shooting at each other, rather than us ….
