A new study of British kids show that they know the names of Pokemon characters better than those of actual plants and animals. Heh.
The average eight-year-old was better able to identify characters from the Japanese card trading game than their own native species. They were more likely to remember names like pikachu, metapod, muk and wigglytuff than mouse, otter, beetle and oak tree.
Of course, who am I to talk. I can probably identify Star Trek (TOS) fauna better than species that live in my area …
