So after a day of fairly diligent recategorizing of posts, I’ve still only gotten from mid-August to mid-November. That leaves another month, plus some further clean-up.

It’s been … interesting, reading my old posts, recalling events that they describe (from the mundane to the profound), and to see how the nature of this blog changed dramatically on 9-11 … a lot more interest in news (of all kinds), for one thing, as well as an increase in volume.

The conversion is going well, though. The only thing I realize I’ve lost are the comments — though, for historic purposes, they will still be available through the Blogger archive files for those months. All in all, I’m pretty pleased by the import.

So hopefully I’ll be able to wrap this up tomorrow and get back to my normal nattering self around here.

One thing I’ll be able to change with this import is dropping PicoSearch and just using the MT-Search utility, since all of my blog will now be in MT. That will save time, as well as traffic. MT-Search isn’t the greatest thing since sliced bread (it lacks some desirable tags in its output, for one thing), but it’s automatic, and it doesn’t have a page count limit.

  1. Part of what’s taking so long is that I had over 900 posts in that period, and 10-11/2001 appear to have the highest post-per-month rates in my blog’s history. Yeesh.
