It’s probably really annoying to Slovenians that most people don’t know that they’re their own country. It’s probably even more annoying that folks keep mistaking them for Slovakia.
At least this time it wasn’t Dubya making the gaffe.

I’m slovenian. It is annoying but the situation is getting better every day as slovenia is about to enter NATO and European Union. I wouldn’t know about the united states where some people dont even knopw where paris is ( i’m talking from personal experience here ) but in europe most people now do know about slovenia. At least some basic facts. Thats only my opinion, of course.
Welcome to NATO. And I hope your EU experience is a positive one.
It’s true that there are folks in the US who don’t know where Paris is. That’s a real shame, and indicative of the insularity that a lot of Americans feel about their nation vs. the world.
On the other hands, some folks do know where Paris is, and make an effort to avoid it … 🙂
Thank you! Paris is a great city, definitely worth to be seen…avoiding the french, that’s another story, lol. My experience with american people is generally pretty good and i think that most people in central and easter europe feel the same way. The anti-american feeling is mainly growing in western europe and i see it as a very bad thing. I think we should all stick together and build a better world in unison. Afterall, we are the same people, we have the same roots. Back to slovenia…I really like the way they talk about slovenia in the usa, especially when they made a lovely presentation of the country on CNN comparing it to a new switzerland.
