And here’s a charming little article about a gent getting an injunction against his ex-girlfriend’s planned abortion.

I have a lot of sympathy for men in this situation, and one would hope in the context of relationships that are ostensibily adult enough to have sex and conceive a kid (intentionally or not) that the parties would be adult enough to have a lucid discussion of the matter and come to some agreement as to the best path forward.

Regardless, so long as abortion is legal, this sort of injunction cannot stand. And, to my mind, we cannot let men have a legal veto in whether it can happen. It’s simply not fair, and it reduces women to unwilling (at any point in the process) incubators. It’s an unfair situation no matter how it’s framed, but that seems the least unfair to me.

I think abortions should be legal. They should occur infrequently and with a lot of consideration. But they must remain the personal choice of the woman involved, and whatever good or ill judgment she demonstrates in her decision making must remain her responsibility.
