A new robot, just 5″ high and 1′ long, will be sent down the mysterious 8″-square southern shaft in the Great Pyramid at Giza next month. Once it comes to the elaborate block at the end of the shaft, it will use a powerful ground-penetrating radar to determine what lies beyond; if it looks interesting, the robot can send a fiber-optic camera through any cracks to transmit pictures.

Even if there’s nothing beyond (which would be odd), it should still be a heck of a lot more interesting than Al Capone’s vault.
