Since early June I’ve been using the Weatherpixie (the little graphic feature in the sidebar) for local weather info.

Unfortunately, because of copyright concerns, Tamsin’s moved away from using the Stortrooper figures (Stor sadly seems to have gone in hiatus, btw) to using some other figure styles. I don’t care for them that much, to be honest, but by the same token, since I’ve had some nice e-conversations with her, she’s allowed me to customize the figures to look and dress like me (aside from being far too, uh, svelte to actually be me). Plus both Mist and Indy show up occasionally.

The other, larger problem is that the weather feed from Centennial Airport to her seems to be regularly a couple of hours old, if not moreso. If I drop WP, it will be because of that (since, well, weather info that’s old isn’t much use). I’ll have to ping her about it.

  1. I got a nice note from Tamsin this evening, explaining that there’s been some intermittent weirdness with the NOAA feed that she uses (which is, itself, a less regular feed because of the volume she downloads). Hopefully they’ll be getting their act together soon.

And think nice thoughts about her tomorrow, as she goes in for a job interview.

  2. Right-clicking on your image in the WeatherPixie box, I discovered that I could put it on my desktop. “Cool,” thinks I! As the temperature changes, I can watch you change clothes throughout the day.

    Hmm…

You know, I think it’s important that I delete that from my desktop right now!

  3. By the way, please don’t bug Tamsin about your own custom Weatherpixie. She’s got plans (some day) for providing some sort of do-it-yourself interface (copyright matters allowing), but obviously in the meantime she can’t do it onesy-twosy for everyone. I was extraordinarily lucky to get in at the “ground floor,” and I’d hate for her generosity to me to cause her grief.

  4. Yipe! Oh, wait… WeatherPixie’s down for maintenance!

    >whew

When I saw the weatherPixie girl in the box, I thought you’d changed more than your clothes!
