  1. My last two computers have been Dells and I loved them both to bits. (Jess has my previous computer now and it’s six years old now and still running like a charm). Everyone’s biggest nightmare happened to me on the latest machine — my motherboard died. Well, Dell lived up to their next business day service and had the new motherboard swapped into my machine with 24 hours of my service call (to a 800 number). BUT here’s the deal — it was winter and the only way to get to my house is a quarter mile walk uphill and/or ride a snowmobile up. The Dell tech did it with a grin. They have always treated me very well and that 800 tech support number means I get all my questions answered on THEIR dime. My next machine will be a Dell, too.

  2. Dell has enjoyed a very solid reputation for tech support. I have read a lot of anecdotal evidence that it’s been badly hurt by budget cuts, but it sounds like some folks, at least, are still happy.

Be that as it may, Steven is the Anti-Christ, and I will not spend any dollars buying a product that might lead someone to believe I was attracted by the advertising.

  3. Personally, I prefer Steven to the current batch of ever so cute, beautiful “interns” they have pitching now. Yeah – computer geek interns all look like they stepped off the set of Dawson’s Creek…
