No such thing as bad publicity

Oklahoma City was among a number of other municipalities that, in the late 90s, started a “public service” cable channel called “John TV,” which tried to shame folks from soliciting prostitutes by showing their mug shots along with the mug shots of the ladies they were caught with.

But not only did it not reduce prostituition, nor gain many viewers, but what viewers it did attract basically used it to identify prostitutes that they could then solicit.

Oklahoma City is pulling the plug on the channel.
